Dr. Ashford specializes in the treatment of the spine with a distinct expertise in all aspects of reconstructive spine surgery, with an interest in deformity of the spine and scoliosis. He is well-versed in conservative treatment when non-operative care is needed, working with rehabilitation and pain management specialists, using minimally invasive procedures and those procedures guided microscopically. He is able to treat trauma, instability of the spine, disc ruptures, collapsed vertebrae and scoliosis.
He is recognized for his numerous contributions to educational programs, including training new spine surgeons at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital and is currently a volunteer assistant professor at USC.
Dr. Ashford joined Congress Associates in May of 2009, having practiced in Los Angeles and Glendale for fifteen years. He now brings his experience to Pasadena.
Dr Ashford participates in study groups focusing on the application of new technologies and instruction for spinal disorders. He has been involved in research and has had many of his papers published. Dr Ashford has an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from USC.
Dr. Ashford earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine and completed his residency in Orthopedics at Los Angeles County-USC Department of Orthopedics. He then pursued a spine fellowship at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital.
Dr. Ashford has a true passion for sports, the desire to heal, and a first-hand understanding of the medical needs of an athlete as a three time Ironman Triathlete himself. He understands conditioning, strengthening and balance for the maintenance of a healthy spine.
